Rep. Michele Brooks Announces Availability of Fair Guides

Rep. Michele Brooks (R-Crawford/Mercer/Lawrence) would like to inform residents about obtaining free copies of the 2009 Pennsylvania Fair Guide, which is now available at her district offices.

Published by the state Department of Agriculture, the guide lists the dates, locations and contact persons for more than 100 agriculture fairs and events scheduled this summer and fall in Pennsylvania. It is estimated that several million visitors will attend Pennsylvania fairs this year.

The guide also includes information on local fairs, including:
Mercer County Grange Fair, July 6-11.
Jefferson Township Fair, July 21-25.
Cochranton Community Fair, Aug. 3-8.
Lawrence County Fair, Aug. 17-22.
Crawford County Fair, Aug. 22-29.
Transfer Harvest Home Fair, Aug. 25-29.
Great Stoneboro Fair, Sept. 2-7.
Jamestown Community Fair, Sept. 8-12.
Other noteworthy festivals include the Fredonia Homecoming, Aug. 4-8; Sandy Lake Firemen’s Fun Days, June 13-14; and the Sheakleyville Fair, July 28 through Aug. 1.

The annual Pennsylvania State Farm Show, the largest indoor agricultural exhibition in the country, will be held in Harrisburg and is currently scheduled for Jan. 9-16, 2010.

Rep. Dick Stevenson Explains that Higher Taxes Would Ravage Already Struggling Families

In a recent YouTube video release, Representative Dick Stevenson explains why a tax increase at this time is wrong for the people of Pennsylvania.

“A tax increase at this time would be devastating for Pennsylvania in my view.
The whole country is struggling at this time of economic hardship and for us to
impose a tax increase on the people of Pennsylvania would cause only more
hardship and difficulty for the folks we represent.”
